Meet the Vamadevan Family: Growing careers
with complex finances
Meet the Vamadevan Family
A dual-physician household with a DIY approach was finding it harder to manage their finances as assets grew and became more complex, while also balancing their careers and home life. They reached out to us during the impending sale of Arunan’s practice.
The financial priorities the Vamadevan Family shared with us, included:
- Reduce the time they spend on managing their personal finances and help them create a joint vision for their financial future
- Allocate the proceeds from the sale of Arunan’s practice to help fund their long-term goals
- Avoid paying assets under management (AUM) fees to a financial advisor
How we’ve helped:
- Acting as an objective third party, we were able to help them create a comprehensive financial plan that found a middle ground between their individual financial priorities.
- We identified areas of their finances that they could optimize, for example, finding and investing excess cash in their retirement accounts.
- They appreciated our flat-fee model of working with clients and we helped them create an investment strategy that focused on long-term investment outcomes.
Although we didn’t manage the Vamadevan investment accounts initially, they ultimately asked us to. This was not because they were not capable, but because they wanted their time back so they could focus on family.
“We stick to the plan, I rarely even check the markets anymore, because we’re [taking] a long term approach… so it’s been totally stress free.” - Arunan Vamadevan
